On our about page there is a pie chart that outlines the 8 key areas of health.   If you want to take steps to live a life of preventative health, then you have to give consideration to each of these areas.

But, most of us do not.

Unfortunately, we have been trained to look at a health and wellness check up as confirmation that we don’t have a disease or condition.   Modern medicine is largely emergent and disease care… where your doctor looks not to maximize your health, but to make sure you don’t have a condition or aren’t injured.  We look to them for health, when they are only looking for disease.

As a result, we absolve ourselves of responsibility for our health by placing it in the hands of doctors, who have little to no training on really where health comes from.

Your average medical doctor gets little to no training on wellness, nutrition and exercise.

Their training is on how to help when things are broken…when we have a condition or an emergency…not on how to truly be healthy.   And yet, 95% of chronic disease is a by-product of lifestyle choice; diet, nutrition, exercise, attitude, stress relief, positive relationships,  limiting exposure to environmental insults, sun and nature, growth and spiritual well being.   Unfortunately, we ignore these keys to health and run to the doctor for our wellness check up to find out if we are sick.  They are not looking for optimum health, just disease free.  There is a huge difference between being at the top of your game compared to just not being sick.

If we ignore the keys to health…then for most of us, it is not a matter of if, but when are we going to get sick.

Health requires that we become pro-active.

We must do more than:  take over the counter pills for pain, a multi-vitamin or vitamin C when we have a cold, visit the doctor when we have a problem, or choose not to supersize our order of French fries when we are feeling fat.

Ultimately, our health and happiness must rest on us by taking a proactive role and responsibility for our lifestyle choices.

Although we do offer treatment for injuries and chronic disease, it is our goal to get people to take tiny steps that raise their health and elevates the quality of their life by providing healthy lifestyle opportunities.

Chiropractic Wellness Care

Chiropractic care can benefit the entire family!

We all deal with different stresses that can negatively impact our health.  Sedentary jobs can de-condition the body and create muscle weakness and imbalance.  Sports or active jobs can over develop some muscle groups and under develop other muscle groups, creating muscle imbalances that sets muscles and joints up for injury.  Kids and adults can take falls or spills that create imbalances that will cause the joints of the spine or extremities to stop functioning properly.  Stress itself can make neck or back muscles get tight, and this in and of itself can create bio-mechanical problems that breakdown muscles and joint tissue, it will also impact other areas of your health!

The okay ones get you in shape if you work hard at it, and ignore the pain and boredom. The good types of exercise are the ones that don’t feel like exercise at all!   The great types of exercise do it all; you lose weight and get fit without thinking about it, you are growing by learning a new and important skill, you are interacting with other like minded friends towards a common goal, and the very act of the exercise class itself makes you feel better about yourself mentally, emotionally and physically!  That is what martial arts offers you!  Find out More

Functional Medicine and Nutrition

Many chronic conditions are best addressed by a healthy and comprehensive holistic approach.  Functional medicine is the process or discipline of taking an individual with a chronic condition and evaluating their systems based biology and nutritional deficits to effect a healthy change.   In functional medicine, we respect the fact that in many chronic conditions there may be many things that are causing the condition not to improve.  Most medicine attempts to address symptoms but does not address the underlying cause.  Functional medicine looks for all things that are contributing to the underlying cause, and goes about addressing them one by one…largely with dietary changes and supplementation.
